Bolton driving lessons/Practical Driving Test

Your practical driving test will include a section of ‘independent driving’, we use test centres in Bolton & Bury.
In the independent driving section of your test, you will drive for about 20 minutes without step-by-step direction from your examiner.
During the independent driving section of the test, the examiner will ask you to drive by either following a ‘Sat Nav’ or following traffic signs.
Independent driving
is to see if you are able to follow a ‘sat nav’ or signs while staying safe, don’t worry if you go the wrong way, as long as you don’t commit any driver faults the examiner will help you get back on route.
Driving independently means making your own decisions – this includes
deciding when it’s safe and appropriate to move the car.
If there are poor or obscured traffic signs, the examiner will give you
directions until you can see the next traffic sign – you won’t need to have a detailed knowledge of the area.
Official DVSA to guide to what happens during the driving test and what it takes to pass it – including the eyesight test, ‘show me, tell me’ questions, reversing exercises, and independent driving part of the test.
