Using a mobile when driving

How often have you seen this? Or even been in a car when the driver has been using the mobile illegally?

Well what some road users don’t understand or some just don’t care is that if you are caught it’s  6 point’s on your licence and a £200 fine!, can you afford that?

What new drivers have to be aware of, if you get caught within the first 2 years of passing, then those points will lead to your licence been revoked, which means you will have to do it all again to be a full licence holder, then you have the issue with insurance as you will have to declare it, how much extra do you think that will cost each year? £100, £1000, £2000, £3000.

So modern cars have all sorts of built in kit these days, your phone can just connect to the car and when you are talking it comes through the car speakers, much safer you might think? Well you would be wrong!

You are just as likely to get distracted from talking to someone while you hold the phone as you would if it came through the car speakers, your eyes might be on the road, however your attention is being split.

Did you read the news article about a truck driver killing 3 generations of a family, because he was on his phone!

The traffic ahead had slowed and he took his eyes off the road momentarily, by the time he released it was too late, there was too much motion in his truck and the car was crushed, not a delightful story but real.

The average amount of time that a person looks at their phone is about 3 seconds, next time you are a passenger in a car close your eyes count,  1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3 Mississippi, then see how far you have travelled, if you have anything about you, it will shock you!

I could go on about the dangers for pages, but I think you get the idea, even the government ran a campaign about putting the mobile in the glove box when you get in, I recommend putting it on silent and having it somewhere you can’t see it while you are driving.

Remember its you that has to live with the consequences that occur, no-one else just you!!!
